Don't you love it when someone who is caught using another's lineart without crediting them gets all huffy and righteous? The work is not yours no matter what "changes" have been made to the piece. Please have the good manners to either use the Artcircle's name, or if you came across the lineart in a gallery and don't know the artists's name, a note of that therein.

For those who don't know, doujinshi is a form of fan-manga in Japan. These books run the gamet from simple stories printed on a copier to eleaborate books that have parcment covers and elegant front and end papers. Some well known manga artists have gotten their start in this fan-based genre.

I am not an artist, only a simple (but published and professional) free-lance wiriter. I have, however, been collecting doujinshi for well over a decade now and have a little more than 200 books in my Sailor Moon collection. If I don't own it, the chances are I have seen it at some point. If folks would just attempt to credit the work appropriately, I won't feel the need to do this. Frankly, my life is complicated enough without the drama.

For pity's sake, just do the right thing up front and no one will have a problem. I have a couple of commisioned works in my gallery. The artist's name is credited right in the description with a link to her amazing gallery.

Please, say that you're using someone else's line art or that you are "referencing" another piece in your description. It's done a lot here at DeviantArt. Be an adult and everyone gets to walk away happy. Is that really too much to ask?

I'm not sure how many people have ever had this problem before, but this is the first time in the entire two years that I have had my deviant account that I have encountered this and quite frankly it really pisses me off.  Yes I know that I use pre-made lineart for most of my artwork that I submit on here, but that does not mean that I disregard other's work and try to pass it off as my own. I am not that shallow of a person people!! Just ask anyone that's actually BOTHERED to have a conversation with me!!  If I did not post credit for the lineart of one of my pictures then that means that I did not know who the original person was that the lineart belonged to in the first place. All I do know is that there is only one person in this ENTIRE PLANET that should be offended by not receiving due credit for any piece of artwork having any form of association to Sailor Moon is Naoko Takeuchi.  So any of you people out there... [link] ...that think you can accuse me of trying to pass off someone else's original artwork as my own after making my own creative changes can shove it up where the sun don't shine!!  Now before anyone reading this come to the conclusion that I'm a complete and total bitch, I'm really not. Far from it actually.  Not saying that I'm a complete saint either, because I'm not. In no way am I without my faults, but when I'm accused to stealing someone else's artwork then yes I get completely and utterly pissed off and there's nothing that's going to change that.  I don't think there's an artist in this world that doesn't take offense to someone accusing them of theft of another's artwork and I'm definitely not going to be the last.  Now for anyone that's wondering why I went on this endless rant about NOT stealing anyone's artwork and NOT claiming someone else's hard work as my own by just making a few "little changes" as it was put to me then you should read this message first!!!
